Fairies Birthday Cake

Fairies! A Bright and Colourful Girl’s Birthday Cake.

I made this cake for my dear friend’s little girl’s fairy themed party. It is a chocolate cake with a caramel filling. This birthday cake is decorated with my favourite marshmallow fondant and pre-ordered non edible fairies figurines.

These days cake toppers are easy to buy and they look simply wonderful. The fairies that decorated this cake are characters from the popular movie and it seemed the best solution to buy pre-made ones. It saves heaps of time too.

I baked two chocolate cakes and layered them with Nestle Caramel as my friend requested. It turned out super sweet. But as I was said later everyone loved it and enjoyed so much.

I covered the whole cake with green marshmallow fondant to create a hill sort of look. Then the “waterfall” was put on top and after that I got lost in creativity and decoration of the fairy birthday cake with fondant flowers, leaves and chocolate rocks.

For the cake board I used flower wrapping paper to match the theme and make it go well together with the cake.

It was my first time working with pre-bought plastic fairy figurines and I noticed it gave me lots of ideas for the decorations as they had to work with the way the fairy dolls sit or stand. If you look at the pictures you will see what I mean.

Using pre-made cake decorations and toppers is a very handy thing and saves your time for other decorations or other party preparation you have left for the last minute. It makes is easier for the beginners to achieve better cake decorating results as all you need is to make a cake and do basic decorations when all the detailed and hard work is done for you.
